The 'Purple Beauty' is a unique type of bell pepper (Capsicum annuum) that was developed through selective breeding. Though bell peppers originally come from the Americas, particularly Central and South America, the 'Purple Beauty' stands out because of its dark purple color, which it develops even before it's fully ripe.
The 'Purple Beauty' pepper grows at a moderate pace, typically needing 70 to 80 days after being transplanted to reach its full size, signature purple hue, and sweet flavor.
Just like other bell pepper varieties, the 'Purple Beauty' pepper plant grows small, star-shaped flowers that are usually white or creamy white. These flowers are "perfect," meaning they have both male and female parts, so they can self-pollinate.
The most striking feature of the 'Purple Beauty' Bell Pepper is its stunning, deep purple skin when mature, which makes it an exceptional visual addition to gardens and culinary dishes. Unlike some other colored peppers that start green, 'Purple Beauty' develops its rich purple hue early on. It has a sweet, mild flavor and a crisp, juicy texture, similar to red or yellow bell peppers, making it excellent for fresh eating in salads, on veggie platters, or for adding a unique pop of color to stir-fries and roasted dishes.
'Purple Beauty' Bell Peppers require full sun, meaning at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight per day. Adequate light is crucial for robust growth and the development of the characteristic purple color. If growing indoors, a very bright south-facing window or supplemental grow lights are essential.
Keep the soil consistently moist but never waterlogged. Peppers are sensitive to drought stress, which can lead to blossom drop or stunted fruit. Water deeply and regularly, especially during flowering and fruiting.
Plant in well-drained, fertile soil that is rich in organic matter. A slightly acidic to neutral pH (between 6.0 and 7.0) is ideal. When potting, use a high-quality potting mix formulated for vegetables.
Ideal temperatures range from 70°F to 85°F (21°C to 29°C). It's generally considered low toxicity but best to keep out of reach of curious animals.

Provide porous soil with adequate drainage, pots with drainage hole are recommended. Bright, filtered
light and ample airflow. Water thoroughly when soil is dry to the touch. Never let your succulents sit in water. Do
NOT water on the leaves. If you water from beneath by letting the plant sit in a saucer of water, make sure to pour
off any excess water after a few minutes.
The hotter it is outside, the faster your soil will dry out, so you’ll need to water more often if you live in a hot
area. Water with caution in winter, as the plant can lose its roots if the soil stays cold and wet for extended
periods; protect from frost to prevent scarring.
