  •   Philodendron Birkin is a hybrid philodendron with striking variegated foliage. It grows with an upright habit and develops increasingly dramatic pinstripes as it matures, making it a desk and shelf plant that works well in any bright indoor space.

Deep emerald leaves emerge with white pinstripes and soft pink or red tinges along the edges as they unfurl. The variegation intensifies over time, creating a two-toned effect that deepens with proper light. It reaches up to 3 feet tall and wide when given adequate moisture and bright indirect light, maintaining its compact, columnar shape without sprawling.

This plant is grown primarily for its foliage rather than flowers. The variegated pinstripe pattern continues to develop throughout the growing season, with new leaves emerging progressively more marked than older growth.

Place it where it receives consistent bright indirect light to support the variegation and slow, steady upright growth. It grows best in living rooms, bedrooms, or offices where it can remain stationary. Rotate it every few weeks to encourage even development on all sides. The plant benefits from occasional feeding during spring and summer but does not require frequent pruning or maintenance.

  •   Philodendron Birkin grows well in bright indirect light and adapts to medium light near east or west-facing windows.

Water it every 10-14 days when the top inch of soil feels dry, reducing frequency in winter months.

Philodendron Birkin does best in well-draining potting soil mixed with peat moss and perlite for aeration.

It prefers temperatures between 65-80°F and should be kept away from cold drafts and sudden temperature swings.

Philodendron Birkin is a slow grower that benefits from balanced fertilizer applied every 4-6 weeks during spring and summer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 11-12 and cannot tolerate frost or temperatures below 50°F. It grows outdoors year-round in southern Florida, Hawaii, and coastal southern California where winter temperatures stay above freezing.
  • Q: How often should I water Philodendron Birkin?
A: Water when the top inch of soil is dry, typically every 10-14 days. In winter, the soil may take longer to dry out, so check before watering.

Q: Does it need special humidity?
A: Philodendron Birkin adapts to average household humidity. Misting the leaves or placing it on a pebble tray increases moisture around the foliage.

Q: Why are new leaves on Philodendron Birkin smaller than older ones?
A: Underwatering, inconsistent light, or natural seasonal slowdown can reduce leaf size. Check that soil stays evenly moist and the plant receives bright indirect light.

Q: Can I propagate this plant?
A: Philodendron Birkin propagates from node cuttings placed in water or moist soil. New roots typically appear within 2-3 weeks under bright indirect light.

Q: Is Philodendron Birkin safe for pets?
A: No. This plant is toxic to cats and dogs if ingested and can cause mild irritation. Keep it out of reach of pets and children.

Q: How long does it take for new variegation to show?
A: Variegation develops progressively with each new leaf over weeks to months, depending on growing conditions and light availability. Leaves that emerge under stronger light often display more dramatic pinstripes than those that unfold in lower light.

    🌿 For Houseplants
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging as soon as possible and review the care instructions included with your order. Water based on your plant’s needs, making sure not to overwater.
Houseplants may need a short adjustment period after arrival. Give your plant time to acclimate to its new space before placing it with other plants. You can gently clean the leaves if needed, and wait to fertilize until it has settled in. Always check soil moisture instead of watering on a fixed schedule.
*** We pack carefully to protect each plant during transit, so larger orders may arrive in multiple packages.
