Peperomia 'Marble', also called the Baby Rubber Plant, is a compact, semi-succulent houseplant in the Piperaceae family. Native to tropical regions of Central and South America, it grows naturally in warm, humid environments under the forest canopy.

The leaves are thick and oval, with a glossy surface patterned in cream and green variegated foliage. Each leaf sits on a short, upright stem, and the overall plant stays low and bushy. The cream tones vary from leaf to leaf, with some showing broad white edges and others carrying pale patches through the center.

Peperomia varieties occasionally produce thin, spike-like flower stalks, though the blooms are small and carry no fragrance. Flowering is infrequent indoors and not the reason most growers keep it. It purifies indoor air and filters formaldehyde and other toxins from the air around it.

Marble Peperomia fits well in terrariums and thrives near kitchen moisture. It grows happily under office LEDs and handles the dry air from heated rooms. Rotate it every few weeks so all sides receive even light. Keep it away from air conditioning and heating vents, as direct blasts of artificial air cause leaf damage. This plant is pet friendly.
