  •   Dracaena Cintho, also called the corn plant, is a tropical houseplant in the Asparagaceae family, native to tropical Africa. It grows as an upright floor plant with a woody cane-like stem and broad arching foliage, and has been widely cultivated as an indoor plant for decades.

The leaves are long, sword-shaped, and deep green with a pale yellow-green stripe running down the center. They arch outward from a central cane that thickens with age, and each leaf can reach over a foot in length. The overall form is upright and columnar, with foliage clustered near the top of each cane.

Dracaena Cintho filters formaldehyde and other airborne toxins, and it actively purifies indoor air as it grows. It wilts slightly when dry, giving a visible cue that watering is needed. Rotating it a quarter turn every few weeks keeps the foliage growing evenly on all sides.

Keep Dracaena Cintho away from air conditioning vents and heaters, as dry moving air causes leaf tip browning. It does well near a kitchen where ambient moisture is higher, and it grows steadily under standard office LED lighting. Cats and dogs shouldn't be left to nibble or eat the plant, and placing it on a high shelf keeps it out of reach of both pets and toddlers. It is sensitive to being moved once settled, so picking a spot and leaving it there works best.

  •   Dracaena Cintho thrives in medium to bright indirect light and grows well under office LED lighting.

Water it every 10-14 days, allowing the top inch of soil to dry out between waterings.

Dracaena Cintho does best in a well-draining potting mix with added perlite to prevent waterlogging.

It prefers temperatures between 65°F and 80°F and should not be exposed to air below 55°F.

Dracaena Cintho is a slow-growing plant; feed it with a balanced liquid fertilizer once a month during spring and summer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 10-12, where frost is rare and temperatures stay above 30°F. It grows outdoors year-round in Florida, Hawaii, southern California, and southern Texas. It can also be moved outside for summer in warmer parts of zones 8 and 9, then brought back indoors before temperatures drop in autumn.
  • Q: Is Dracaena Cintho safe for pets?
A: Cats and dogs shouldn't be left to nibble or eat the plant. Keep it on a high shelf or in a room pets don't access.

Q: How do I know if it needs more water?
A: Dracaena Cintho wilts slightly when the soil has been dry too long. Check the top inch of soil, and if the leaves are also yellowing, overwatering may be the cause rather than underwatering.

Q: Can Dracaena Cintho grow in an office with no windows?
A: It handles standard LED office lighting well, but a spot within a few feet of a window will keep growth steadier. Fully windowless spaces with only dim overhead lighting will cause growth to slow noticeably.

Q: Why are the leaf tips turning brown?
A: Dracaena Cintho is sensitive to dry air from air conditioning or heating vents. Moving it away from direct airflow and placing it near a kitchen or other moisture-rich area usually reduces tip browning.

Q: How large does Dracaena Cintho get indoors?
A: It can reach 4-6 feet tall indoors over several years, with most of the height coming from the woody cane rather than the foliage spread.

Q: Can it be placed near a south-facing window?
A: Dracaena Cintho can scorch in a south-facing window with strong direct sun. A few feet back from the window, or a north- or east-facing exposure, works better.

    🌿 For Houseplants
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging as soon as possible and review the care instructions included with your order. Water based on your plant’s needs, making sure not to overwater.
Houseplants may need a short adjustment period after arrival. Give your plant time to acclimate to its new space before placing it with other plants. You can gently clean the leaves if needed, and wait to fertilize until it has settled in. Always check soil moisture instead of watering on a fixed schedule.
*** We pack carefully to protect each plant during transit, so larger orders may arrive in multiple packages.
