  •   Haworthia Zebra Plant is a compact succulent native to the Eastern Cape province of South Africa, where it grows in rocky, semi-arid landscapes beneath shrubs and rocks. Belonging to the Haworthia genus in the Asphodelaceae family, it has become popular as an indoor succulent for its white-striped leaves and nearly indestructible nature.

It forms an upright rosette of thick, dark green triangular leaves lined with raised white horizontal bands that resemble zebra stripes. Each leaf is firm and fleshy, tapered to a point, and typically reaches 3–5 inches tall at maturity. The compact, rosette growth form stays small enough for desks, shelves, and narrow windowsills without sprawling or taking up floor space.

Haworthia Zebra can produce slender flower stalks in summer, bearing small tubular white to pale pink blooms when conditions favor a slight drop in nighttime temperatures. It tolerates office LED lighting where many succulents fail to grow. You can leave it up to ten days without water.

It is pet-friendly and non-toxic to cats and dogs, making it safe for any room in your home. Certain forms and clones are collected by enthusiasts. Move it outside in summer in a sheltered spot with bright indirect light, then bring it back indoors before temperatures drop in autumn.

  •   Haworthia Zebra Plant grows well in bright indirect light and tolerates low light, but scorches in direct south-facing sun.

Water it every 2–3 weeks during the growing season, reducing to once a month in winter and allowing soil to dry completely between waterings.

Haworthia Zebra does best in gritty, fast-draining succulent or cactus soil mixed with extra perlite for excellent drainage.

It prefers temperatures between 65–80°F and should be protected from frost below 40°F.

Haworthia Zebra is a slow grower that needs feeding only once in spring with a diluted balanced fertilizer.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9–11, tolerating temperatures down to about 25–30°F with protection. It grows outdoors year-round in California, Texas, Florida, Arizona, Hawaii, Louisiana, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, Nevada, and coastal areas of Oregon. Warmer pockets of zone 9 in New Mexico, Arkansas, and parts of North Carolina and Virginia also support outdoor container growing.
  • Q: How often should I water Haworthia Zebra Plant?
A: Every 2–3 weeks during the growing season, letting the soil dry out fully before watering again. In winter, water about once a month to prevent root rot.

Q: Is it safe to keep in a home with pets?
A: Haworthia Zebra Plant is non-toxic and safe for cats and dogs.

Q: How much light does Haworthia Zebra need to avoid leaf scorch?
A: Place it in bright indirect light or near an east or west-facing window. Keep it away from intense afternoon south-facing sun, which causes the leaves to turn pale and papery.

Q: What size does this plant reach at maturity?
A: Haworthia Zebra stays very small, typically 3–5 inches tall and wide at maturity, making it suitable for terrariums and tight spaces.

Q: Can you propagate Haworthia Zebra from the pups that form at the base?
A: Gently separate the baby offsets from the mother plant and pot them individually in well-draining soil to establish new plants.

Q: Does it produce flowers, and what do they look like?
A: Haworthia Zebra can bloom in summer with small white to pale pink tubular flowers on slender stalks, though blooms appear only when night temperatures drop slightly.

    🌿 For Houseplants
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging as soon as possible and review the care instructions included with your order. Water based on your plant’s needs, making sure not to overwater.
Houseplants may need a short adjustment period after arrival. Give your plant time to acclimate to its new space before placing it with other plants. You can gently clean the leaves if needed, and wait to fertilize until it has settled in. Always check soil moisture instead of watering on a fixed schedule.
*** We pack carefully to protect each plant during transit, so larger orders may arrive in multiple packages.
