  •   Haworthia cymbiformis, also called Windowed Boats, is a small succulent native to South Africa's Eastern Cape Province. It belongs to the Haworthia genus and works as a desk plant or office succulent.

Boat-shaped leaves form tight rosettes measuring 3-4 inches across, with each thick, fleshy leaf displaying translucent "windows" at the tips. The pale green to blue-green foliage has a smooth, glassy texture with subtle striping, and the translucent leaf windows allow light to penetrate deep into the plant tissue. Windowed Boats grows slowly and stays desktop-sized for years without sprawling or outgrowing its space.

White tubular flowers appear on thin stalks during spring and summer months. The blooms produce pollen that may trigger allergies in sensitive individuals. Windowed Boats shows thirst by wilting its normally plump leaves slightly.

You can leave it up to ten days without water. Windowed Boats works well in open terrariums and beneath office LED lighting, though it needs rotating for even growth. Avoid direct south-facing sun, as it scorches the translucent leaf windows. Move it outside in summer, but provide shelter from rain to prevent root rot. It is pet-safe around cats and dogs.

  •   Haworthia cymbiformis - Windowed Boats grows well in bright, indirect light and grows well under office LED fixtures.

Water it every 10-14 days during the growing season, allowing soil to dry completely between waterings.

Haworthia Cymbiformis grows well in a well-draining succulent mix with added perlite or pumice for optimal drainage.

It prefers temperatures between 65-80°F and is not frost-tolerant below 32°F.

Haworthia Cymbiformis grows slowly and rarely needs fertilizer beyond diluted succulent food twice yearly.

It is hardy in USDA zones 9-11 and cannot tolerate frost below 32°F. It grows outdoors year-round in Florida, southern California, Hawaii, southern Texas, southern Arizona, southern Louisiana, and coastal areas of Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, and southern Nevada.
  • Q: How often should I water Haworthia cymbiformis - Windowed Boats?
A: Every 10-14 days during the growing season. Check soil moisture by inserting your finger an inch deep; water only when the soil feels completely dry.

Q: Is this plant safe for pets?
A: Haworthia cymbiformis - Windowed Boats is pet-friendly and safe for cats and dogs, though spring flowers produce pollen that may cause mild allergies in sensitive individuals.

Q: What light conditions does Haworthia Cymbiformis need?
A: Avoid direct south-facing sun, which scorches the translucent leaf windows. Bright, indirect light from east or west windows works best, or place it near office LED lighting.

Q: How big does it get?
A: Haworthia Cymbiformis reaches 3-4 inches across and about 2-3 inches tall, staying desktop-sized throughout its life.

Q: Can Windowed Boats grow in a terrarium?
A: Yes, as long as the container has drainage holes and good air circulation to prevent water from sitting around the roots.

Q: How do I propagate it?
A: Remove the offset pups growing around the base of the mother plant, let the cut surfaces dry for 24-48 hours, then plant them in succulent soil mix. Windowed Boats pups root within 2-3 weeks at normal indoor temperatures.

    🌵 For Succulents
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging right away and follow the care instructions included with your order. Succulents prefer to dry out between waterings, so only water when the soil is completely dry.
Succulents are resilient plants and typically recover quickly once they settle into their new environment. Give them a few days to adjust before placing them in direct sunlight, and avoid fertilizing right away.
