    •   Sempervivum Arachnoideum, also called Cobweb Hen And Chicks, is a frost-hardy succulent in the Crassulaceae family native to the rocky alpine regions of the Alps, Apennines, and Carpathian Mountains in Europe. It grows naturally in poor, rocky soils at high elevations, making it one of the toughest rosette-forming plants you can grow.

        The fine white webbing stretched across each rosette is the plant's most distinctive feature, mimicking a spider's cobweb spun from tip to tip. Rosettes are compact, typically 1 to 3 inches across, with fleshy green leaves edged in that signature white fuzz. Sempervivum Arachnoideum clusters freely, with the mother hen pushing out small chick offsets in every direction for an ever-expanding mat of silvery-green rosettes.

        Star-shaped pink to rosy-red flower clusters bloom on upright stalks during summer, typically once a rosette matures. After flowering, the rosette dies back, but surrounding chicks quickly fill the gap. Cool night temperatures encourage blooming, so plants kept outdoors benefit from the natural seasonal temperature drop.
