  •   Syngonium White Butterfly is a variegated arrowhead vine in the Araceae family, native to the tropical rainforests of Central and South America. It grows naturally beneath dense forest canopies where light filters through layers of leaves and humidity stays high. It adapts to indoor living as easily as it does to its rainforest origins.

The leaves are soft arrowhead-shaped blades splashed with creamy white and forest green in high-contrast patterns that shift as the plant matures. Young leaves emerge with generous white variegation at the center, then gradually develop broader green margins with age. It grows upright and compact when young, then loosens into a trailing vine habit over time, making it equally suited to a hanging basket, a high shelf, or a tabletop pot.

Syngonium Podophyllum rarely flowers indoors and isn't grown for its blooms. It naturally humidifies the air around it and filters formaldehyde and other airborne toxins from your indoor space.

This arrowhead plant suits bohemian shelf displays, hanging baskets, and terrariums where its high humidity preference is easily met. It responds to thirst by wilting slightly. Keep it away from cats, dogs, and small children, as the sap can irritate skin and paws. A high shelf or hanging position keeps it safely out of reach while showing off its trailing vines. You can leave it up to ten days without water.

  •   Syngonium White Butterfly grows well in bright indirect light but adapts well to low light and grows well under standard office LEDs.

Water it thoroughly every 7 to 10 days in summer, reducing to every 14 days in winter when growth slows.

Syngonium Podophyllum performs best in a well-draining, peat-based or coco coir mix blended with perlite for aeration and moisture balance.

It prefers temperatures between 60 and 85°F and should never be exposed to frost or cold drafts from air conditioning or heating vents.

Syngonium Podophyllum is a fast grower in warm, humid conditions and benefits from light pruning and balanced liquid fertilizer monthly through spring and summer.

It is hardy in USDA Zones 10 to 12, tolerating minimum temperatures around 30 to 35°F only briefly before cold damage occurs. It grows outdoors year-round in Hawaii, southern Florida, and frost-free pockets of southern California, coastal Texas, southern Arizona, and Louisiana. In Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, South Carolina, Nevada, and along the Oregon coast, it grows outside through the warmer months but needs to come indoors well before autumn frost arrives.
  • Q: How much light does Syngonium White Butterfly need?
A: Avoid south-facing windows where direct sun can scorch the variegated leaves. Bright indirect light or positioning a few feet back from an east or west window keeps the foliage pattern sharp without damage.

Q: Is this plant safe for pets and children?
A: Syngonium White Butterfly should be kept out of reach of cats, dogs, and small children because the sap irritates skin and paws if touched or eaten. A high shelf or hanging basket is the safest placement.

Q: How do I propagate Syngonium Podophyllum?
A: Take stem cuttings just below a node and place them in water or moist perlite until roots develop. Spring and early summer are the best times for fastest rooting.

Q: Why are the leaves on my plant turning yellow?
A: Syngonium Podophyllum yellows most often from overwatering, low humidity, or exposure to cold drafts. Check that the soil isn't staying soggy, mist regularly, or set the pot on a pebble tray filled with water to raise humidity around it.

Q: Can Syngonium Podophyllum grow in a terrarium or hanging basket?
A: Both work excellently. Terrariums maintain the high humidity it prefers in an enclosed space. Hanging baskets display trailing vines beautifully, though rotating it regularly ensures all sides receive even light.

Q: How fast does this plant grow?
A: Syngonium Podophyllum grows quickly in warm, humid conditions with bright indirect light and consistent moisture, producing new leaves every week or two during the growing season.

    🌿 For Houseplants
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging as soon as possible and review the care instructions included with your order. Water based on your plant’s needs, making sure not to overwater.
Houseplants may need a short adjustment period after arrival. Give your plant time to acclimate to its new space before placing it with other plants. You can gently clean the leaves if needed, and wait to fertilize until it has settled in. Always check soil moisture instead of watering on a fixed schedule.
