  •   Pothos 'Golden', also called Golden Pothos, is a trailing vine in the Epipremnum genus native to the Solomon Islands, where it scrambles across tropical forest floors and climbs through tree canopies. One of the most widely grown houseplants in the world, it has earned a devoted following from beginners and collectors for its near-indestructible nature and fast, cascading growth.

The leaves are small and heart-shaped, splashed with golden-yellow variegation across an emerald green base, with a waxy, glossy texture that catches light. Long, flexible vines trail from hanging baskets and shelves with ease, and the more light it receives, the bolder and more vivid those golden streaks become on each leaf.

Pothos 'Golden' rarely flowers indoors, so the main appeal lies in its foliage and its air-purifying ability. Studies have shown it filters formaldehyde and other common indoor toxins from the air, making it a hardworking addition to any room.

Move it outside in summer in a sheltered spot, though it needs protection from rain and should come back inside before temperatures drop. It grows well in kitchens where ambient moisture keeps the vines full, and you can leave it up to ten days without water. Propagation is straightforward: snip a stem just below a node and place it in water until roots form, then pot it up, often producing several new leaves a month in good conditions.

  •   Pothos 'Golden' grows well in low, medium, or bright indirect light, and even grows well under standard office LEDs, but scorches in direct south-facing sun.

Water it every 1–2 weeks, allowing the top inch of soil to dry out completely between waterings.

Pothos 'Golden' does best in a well-draining potting mix, with standard potting soil blended with added perlite to prevent soggy roots.

It prefers temperatures between 65–85°F and should be kept away from cold drafts, air conditioning vents, and heater airflow.

Pothos 'Golden' is a fast-growing trailing vine; feed it monthly in spring and summer with balanced liquid fertilizer to keep those vines charging ahead.

It is hardy in USDA zones 10–12, tolerating temperatures no lower than about 30–35°F before foliage suffers. It grows outdoors year-round in warm coastal and southern states including Hawaii, Florida, southern California, southern Texas, Arizona, and Louisiana, and also grows through milder seasons in Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, and along the sheltered coasts of Oregon and Washington.
  • Q: How much light does Pothos 'Golden' need indoors?
A: It adapts to low, medium, or bright indirect light for offices and bedrooms without direct sun, but avoid placing it where direct rays will scorch the leaves.

Q: What happens if I overwater this plant?
A: Root rot sets in quickly with soggy soil. Pothos 'Golden' prefers to dry out slightly between waterings and will droop its leaves when thirsty.

Q: Is Pothos 'Golden' safe around cats and dogs?
A: No; cats and dogs shouldn't nibble or eat it, as the sap can cause skin or paw irritation on contact, so keep it on a high shelf away from pets.

Q: How fast does it grow and can I multiply it?
A: It often puts out several new leaves a month in good light and moisture, and propagation takes only a few weeks. Snip below a node, root in water, and pot up.

Q: Can Golden Pothos survive while I travel?
A: It can comfortably survive a 10-day trip without watering as long as it was well-watered before you leave.

Q: Does this plant actually clean the air in my home?
A: Golden Pothos is a well-documented air purifying plant that filters formaldehyde and other indoor toxins, making it a practical choice for living spaces and home offices.

    🌿 For Houseplants
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging as soon as possible and review the care instructions included with your order. Water based on your plant’s needs, making sure not to overwater.
Houseplants may need a short adjustment period after arrival. Give your plant time to acclimate to its new space before placing it with other plants. You can gently clean the leaves if needed, and wait to fertilize until it has settled in. Always check soil moisture instead of watering on a fixed schedule.
