  •   Peace Lily (Spathiphyllum), also called Peace Lily, is a tropical flowering houseplant in the Araceae family, native to the rainforests of Central and South America. It grows naturally on the humid forest floor, where light is filtered and moisture is constant.

The leaves are long, oval, and deep green, with a glossy surface and gently pointed tips. They grow upright from the base on slender stems, forming a full, arching clump. Spathiphyllum wallisii typically reaches one to four feet tall indoors, depending on the pot size and growing conditions.

It produces white, hood-shaped blooms called spathes, each cradling a slender yellow-white spadix at the center. Flowers appear most often in spring and sometimes again in autumn, and some plants bloom intermittently year-round with enough indirect light. Spathiphyllum wallisii is one of the few flowering houseplants that produces pollen, so it may trigger sensitivities in allergy-prone households.

Rotate it every few weeks so all sides receive even light exposure. Spathiphyllum wallisii works well in kitchens and bathrooms, where ambient moisture from cooking and bathing suits it naturally. It filters formaldehyde and other indoor toxins from the air and releases moisture as it breathes, adding humidity to dry indoor spaces. Keep it on a high shelf or in a room away from pets and small children, as the sap can irritate skin and paws, and the plant should not be nibbled or eaten by cats or dogs.

  •   Peace Lily (Spathiphyllum) grows well under office fluorescent or LED lighting and in rooms with bright indirect light. Keep it away from south-facing windows, where direct sun scorches the leaves.

It wilts visibly when the soil has dried out, which is a useful cue to water. Water thoroughly every one to two weeks, allowing excess to drain fully.

Spathiphyllum wallisii does best in a loose, well-draining peat or coco-coir mix with perlite added for aeration. Avoid dense or compacted soils that hold moisture too long around the roots.

It prefers temperatures between 65°F and 85°F and should not drop below 55°F. Keep it away from air conditioning vents, heating units, and cold drafts, as fluctuating airflow causes leaf damage.

Spathiphyllum wallisii is a moderate grower, putting out new leaves steadily through the spring and summer months. Feed it with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength once a month during the growing season.

It is hardy in USDA zones 11 and 12, where temperatures stay above 50°F year-round. It grows outdoors in Hawaii and the southernmost parts of Florida. In all other regions, it performs as an indoor tropical houseplant.
  • Q: Is Peace Lily (Spathiphyllum) safe for pets and children?
A: Cats and dogs shouldn't be left to nibble or eat the plant, and the sap can irritate skin and paws on contact. Keep it on a high shelf or in a space small children cannot reach.

Q: How do I know when to water this plant?
A: Watch for slight wilting in the leaves, which appears when the soil has gone dry. Peace Lily (Spathiphyllum) recovers quickly once watered, but frequent wilting puts stress on the roots over time.

Q: Can Spathiphyllum wallisii grow in a terrarium?
A: Yes, its preference for high humidity and filtered light suits a terrarium environment well. Make sure the container is large enough to accommodate the root system as it grows.

Q: Will this plant help purify the air in my home?
A: Spathiphyllum wallisii filters formaldehyde and other airborne toxins and also releases moisture into the air as it transpires. It is one of the more studied houseplants for indoor air filtration.

Q: Can Peace Lily handle being moved outside in summer?
A: Move it to a shaded outdoor spot where it gets no direct sun and is sheltered from rain. Bring it back inside before nighttime temperatures drop below 60°F.

Q: How much light does this plant actually need?
A: Peace Lily handles low to medium indoor light and grows well under standard office LEDs. A north- or east-facing window is a good placement, while south-facing windows risk scorching the leaves.

    🌿 For Houseplants
When your package arrives, you may notice a bit of loose soil in the box. This is completely normal during shipping.
Please remove your plants from their packaging as soon as possible and review the care instructions included with your order. Water based on your plant’s needs, making sure not to overwater.
Houseplants may need a short adjustment period after arrival. Give your plant time to acclimate to its new space before placing it with other plants. You can gently clean the leaves if needed, and wait to fertilize until it has settled in. Always check soil moisture instead of watering on a fixed schedule.
