Concrete Leaf Titanopsis Calcarea

6   |
  • Titanopsis calcarea 'Jewel Plant' is a mat-forming succulent that is also known by various names: Concrete Leaf, Jewel Weed, Carpet Leaf, Sheep’s Tongue, or Living Stone.

It forms rosettes up to 3 inches (7.5 cm) in diameter. These rosettes consist of fleshy grey green leaves with plenty of rough white grey tubercles concentrated at the tips.

Jewel Plant produces yellow or orange flowers of about 0.8 inch (2 cm) in diameter. It usually becomes dormant or semi-dormant during the hottest summer months.

All of the plants will be shipped bare root.
  •  Full sun.

Porous, gritty and well-drained potting soil.

In the spring and autumn, water thoroughly when soil is dry to the touch, then let drain completely. Water less frequently in the winter, only enough to prevent the leaves from shriveling. Reduce watering to a minimum during its dormancy in the summer to avoid root rot.

Concrete Leaf prefers a dry atmosphere.

Feed with a cactus food every 1-2 weeks during the growing season in the spring.
  • USDA Zone from 9b: to -3.8 °C (25 °F) to 11: above 4.5 °C (40 °F)
  • Your plant will be meticulously bubblewrapped and shipped in a sturdy box. Most 2" plants are shipped in their original plastic pot with soil. Fragile and big 4" plants are shipped bareroot to ensure their safety. When opening your package, some soil may be loose in the box. Plant orders are shipped within 3-5 days depending on availability of the plant. We ship our plants Monday through Friday, all twelve months of the year! If you need your order urgently, please message us so we can upgrade your shipping (additional cost applied). Here is our blog about the shipping process and packaging. We do not ship outside of the continental United States.
  • We only ship out beautiful, healthy plants! Please track your package and open it immediately upon arrival. If you receive your package and are not satisfied, please message us immediately. Fragile plants such as bearpaw, baby toe, etc. may break or loose a few of their leaves during transport. Please contact us for replacements if your plants are severely damaged. We'll try our best to accommodate you. Plants may be slightly larger or smaller than the pot they are grown in, depending on availability or time of year.
  • Provide porous soil with adequate drainage, pots with drainage hole are recommended. Bright, filtered light and ample airflow. Water thoroughly when soil is dry to the touch. Never let your succulents sit in water. Do NOT water on the leaves. If you water from beneath by letting the plant sit in a saucer of water, make sure to pour off any excess water after a few minutes. The hotter it is outside, the faster your soil will dry out, so you’ll need to water more often if you live in a hot area. Water with caution in winter, as the plant can lose its roots if the soil stays cold and wet for extended periods; protect from frost to prevent scarring.

Out of This World!

I love my little Concrete Leaf succulent plant! It came in extremely healthy condition and it was larger than I expected. It was absolutely beautiful right out of the box. This particular species of succulent reminds me of something you might see in sci-fi depictions of landscapes on other planets. Thank you SB for sending me this beautiful plant!
